Andrea Helene
Andrea was raised in the Chicago area and
attended Rice University in Houston, where she earned
a B.A. in Managerial Studies with minors in German and
French. While at Rice she studied with director Sandy
Havens as well as playwrights in residence at
Houston's Alley Theater, and with the Royal
Shakespeare Company. Andrea has performed on stages in
Los Angeles, Chicago and Houston starring in such
plays as Turkel's 'Working', Inge's 'Bus Stop', Williams' 'Orpheus Descending', Wasserstein's ' Uncommon Women' among
others. Last spring she co-produced,
directed and starred in Lanford Wilson's 'Burn This',
which reviewers hailed as "brilliant." Her performance
has been described as "excellent"; "phenomenal"; "a
subtly winding of her way through and into all the
other characters' lives, finding strength in Anna's
vulnerabilities"; "the first actress to ever truly
understand the depth of this role."
Andrea studied the Meisner Technique with Robert
Carnegie and Jeff Goldblum at Playhouse West and has
been an acting teacher there for over 8 years. She has
directed James Franco in 'This is Our Youth', and
Paulette Braxton in Lanford Wilson's 'Gingham Dog', and
she starred alongside Jeff Goldblum in 'The Exonerated' .
She recently starred in an original Stewart Irel
musical and just finished a highly regarded run in
Tracy Aziz' 'Hamlet', playing Gertrude opposite Mark
Pellegrino's Hamlet.
Andrea's film and television work includes a widely
heralded performance in Director Joe Hackett's short,
'A Minor Incident'; a part in Paul Edwards' 'Fighting
Words'; a starring role in Director Graham Tallman's
'Harvest' and a featured role in his latest film,
'Codename: Simon' , which has been honored at multiple
festivals including the AFI Fest, and which was selected for the 2005 Sundance Film Festival.
She is currently finishing filming a starring role in
Henry Barrials' 'True Love', a project which earned
acclaim at the Sundance Screenwriters Lab of 2003. Her
television credits include numerous national
commercials and 'West Wing'. |
